We are in a cold snap here in Edmonton. Today it's -32c taking off for work at 6:30 am. It felt like the rumble feature in the lane departure was stuck on. I read here that a fellow Edmontonian is having the same issue. Greg G. found that the 2017/2018 used hydraulic fluid engine mounts and that they are not effective in cold weather. Seems like Mazda really screwed up here. Seems pretty negligent to place these mounts in a vehicle knowing full well what will happen in cold weather. Makes me wonder what else they compromised to make up a little extra margin.

I just bought a 2018 CX-5 GT on Jan. 26, 2018. Just the other day we had -28 Celsius weather. To my surprise when I started the vehicle (block heater plugged in) there was a horrible extremely noticeable vibration. Even traveling, the vibration was horrible once it was at a cruising speed. This prompted me to Google the issue and found lots regarding the 2017's. Well, the 2018's have the same problem. Confirmed Mazda knows about it, confirmed dealer knows about it. I sure had words at the dealership for selling me a vehicle with this defect without telling me about it. I called Mazda Canada and they told me they are working on a solution and to just wait. Wait for what? An engine mount to break open????

The engine mounts in the 17's and 18's are liquid filled with hydraulic fluid. When the temperature gets cold, even at -17 Celsius, the mounts are stiff and the vehicle vibrates horribly. It feels as though there are no mounts at all, it is that bad. I am thinking of going to the media with this. Mazda knew of the problem in the 2017's and yet put the same mounts in the 18's. If you live in a cold climate, stay away from Mazda until they fix this problem.
