Picking up kids from school, my 2023 CX-50 (non-turbo) with 28k miles started, but the engine began to shake violently and the car would not accelerate past 5mph. Several restarts had the same results. The dash screen read "Engine Malfunction. Do not drive" After having the car towed to the dealership, they reported no fault codes were found and they could not duplicate the problem. I was charged for the tow and the diagnostic fee. How can a modern car display a critical error and go into limp mode without any stored fault codes? I believe the dealership simply cleared the codes and reset the car to get it running again. The car runs fine now, but I've lost confidence in the long-term reliability.
