I own a 2014 B class electric which I bought used in 2015 from a luxury car resale dealership in Indianapolis and had shipped to me in Fort Lauderdale. It is the only B class my Mercedes dealer, Mercedes Benz of Fort Lauderdale has ever serviced or seen.
On May 19, 2020, when a warning light on the dash came on, saying "malfunction. visit workshop", I drove straight to Mercedes Benz of Fort Lauderdale. I left it there, authorizing $195 for diagnostics.
I was called that after by my service advisor. "It's bad. You need a new motor". When I asked "how much" the answer was "probably over $10,000".
I was floored. The car is a 2014, with 21,000 miles and worked perfectly; my all time favorite car. The 4 year, 50,000 mile warranty ended in August 2018, so I'm out of warranty. I could not believe a Mercedes product would be effectively dead at 21,000 miles.
I called MBUSA to report this and seek help. The person there, "Hona", bounced it back to the dealer, this time the service manager, who said I needed to authorize another 3 hours of diagnostics, for $300 more, before they gave a final diagnosis. Yesterday, 3 weeks and $500 later, the diagnosis is the same: new motor.
I was told it would be $12,000, and Mercedes will pay $5000 of that, so my cost would be $7000 (plus the $500 I already owe).
I am appealing again to MBUSA, and hope to get somewhere with them. It is insane for any 6 year old car in otherwise perfect condition to be DEAD at 21,000 miles, much less a Mercedes.
