cracked 4th piston

Dear Mercedes Benz,

I have a C180 2013 which I bought last year, a second owner, and the car is now 94k kilometers and I never had a problem whatsoever with the car. On 3rd of October 2021 I heard some knocking as only three spark plugs were working, not four, and followed by the check engine alarm on, then I stopped immediately and I called the Service center where I service my car and he advised me to park the car in a safe place and it was towed to the service center.

The service center checked the engine with a compression test and found out the the 4th Piston is low and after few days the engine been dismantled and I have attached the photo of the damaged piston.

I really think that there is a defect in the piston and I'm not an abusive user, as I assure you its not the case here. The car is taken care of like it is a baby, very clean up to par on so many levels, and with all maintenance done as per manufacture. I always had a dream of owning a Mercedes known for its quality workmanship, ruggedness, safety and durability.

But I am sorry to inform you that my high expectation from Mercedes is far from satisfactory now.

Hello Mercedes Benz,

Please be informed that this is my second email and complaint to your esteemed organization and I was expecting someone to reply me and take care of my complaint.

I know that there are some models (like the C180) that has a manufacture problem and Mercedes Benz had summoned and called cars with Model Years 2013 and 2014 to check something in the engine, but to be honest i don't have the technical ability to understand what the problem is.

I owned the car a year ago and treated like my baby, all maintenance on time. Also I don't use it much and it spends most of time parked in my garage.

My car has only 94.000 km and it's never had an engine problem with me or the first owner.

I had a cracked piston in my car on the 3rd of October 2021, which is something unpleasant to me and to the sake of reputation for a remarkable brand like Mercedes Benz. I really think that there is an unknown defect that led to the cracked piston at such low mileage. I'm escalating this problem and complaint to Mercedes Benz and I wish to hear your reply at your earliest convenience.

Best Regards,

Mohamed Mahmoud Aly EL Tramsy
