burnt intake valve right after warranty expired The car's drivetrain warranty was for 50,000 miles. My wife drives up to the house with a heavy misfire, slow as all hell, and engine lights galore.

Since our previous experience with the local M-B dealer for the A/C issue left a sour taste in my mouth, I found an independent MB technician to take it to. Glad I did. The repair would have cost twice what we paid at the independent service shop. He stated that our model (C230K) and year (2005) failed regularly in this manner because Daimler went cheap on the valves. They had fixed the problem by the 2007 model year, but kept the issue quiet, as most people traded in their cars before 50,000 miles. He said they would replace the one bad valve if I wanted. I don't work that way. Since the head and supercharger had to be removed to get to the valves, I had him replace all the valves, valve keepers, springs, and seats. Along with the head gasket and front cover seals. I didn't want the problem again. Daimler wouldn't hear of the complaint even though the issue occurred 500 miles after the warranty expired. They basically said "Tough luck". We liked the car - too bad we had to get rid of it due to these issues.
