Takata airbag recall - I contacted the Mercedes Benz dealership where I purchased my vehicle and told them I did not feel safe driving my vehicle. They immediately forwarded my call to a hotline for Mercedes Benz usa, and I was told that my car is safe to drive and that Mercedes will not offer me a rental car to drive while I wait for replacement parts. They went as far as to send me a letter explicitly saying that they believe "there is no reason for you to stop driving your vehicle." There is no estimated timeline for the replacement parts. There wouldn't be a recall if there wasn't a safety risk and Mercedes Benz isn't doing anything to ease customers' fears or ensure our safety. I live about a mile from the beach and it is humid. Not only do I not feel safe, the resale value of my car is likely impacted if I wanted to purchase a new, safer vehicle. Mercedes Benz should be mandated to offer rental cars while we wait for our replacement airbags. It's not "precautionary" to issue a recall and then wait months (or potentially years) to fix the problem.

The SRS light is on steady for about a month now. I get a message on the display "check passenger airbag" and the passenger airbag "on/off" switch is in the off position, which I cannot change. When I look up the VIN I get no answer for my make and model. I really think my car should be included on this recall.

My complaint is against Mercedes-Benz, usa for their failure to inform me of the substantive defects and recalls at the time of my purchase of the 2006 Mercedes C280; VIN [xxx]. on April 24, 2009, I engaged in a contract with Mercedes Benz financial services for the purchase of the above 2006 C-280. I was never informed of the serious defects on the vehicle. I was never given an opportunity to make an informed decision. Hence, the business practice of Mercedes Benz and or it's dealership was deceptive. It is hard to imagine that anyone, let alone myself, whose medical impairment of fear, anxiety and panic disorder (ada act) would purchase a vehicle with full knowledge of the risk factors involved; during and prior to the purchase, pursuant to: A). report date:December 3, 2011 at 07:19 am mfr's report date: Dec 15, 2005...NHTSA campaign id number: 05V560000..component: (air bags)... consequence: In the event of a crash, an occupant may not be properly restrained which could (result in injuries).. dealers will install a new air bag inflater module free of charge Mercedes-Benz recall no. 2006020005. The recall began on March 15, 2006. B). December 3, 2011 (NHTSA campaign id number): 08V303000...(component): Electrical system.... 2006 Mercedes Benz C230 68K miles. Error message states "SRS restraint system malfunction. Drive to workshop". I am told that my entire supplemental restraint system has been deactivated until this is resolved. Repair costs around $700 to fix and I do not have an extra $700 laying around right now. From reading online, this is an extremely common/widespread problem with Mercedes and should lead to a recall as people's lives are at stake when driving a vehicle without working airbags or pre-tensioners.
