Please be aware that all Merc Ml 350 2005 have been built with sub standard balance shafts. Mb are aware of this but refuse to recall them as it costs approximately £8000 yes £8000 to replace... They were fitted with a poor quality metal which over time wears, this will cause the engine light to come on showing fault code balance shaft sensors. The danger here is the chain could slip and cause major engine failure...

HERE COMES THE BEST BIT!!!!!!!!

Before I purchased the car I contacted MB NORTHAMPTON ( ENGLAND) and asked them was there anything on this vehicle I need to watch out for, they replied NO nothing to worry about on these models... So I purchased one and after 2 months the engine light came on, booked it into MB Northampton who kept the car for a week... After hearing nothing I popped in to ask for an update, then got told it required 2 new balance shafts??????????

I was lost for words, and it gets better... The technician told me this was a known fault...and not covered by any warranty...

Here we go, so I phoned MB UK head office MILTON KEYNES BTW and explained the problem to which they replied the vehicle is out of warranty...

NOOOOOOOOO the vehicle has a FMBSH, regardless to warranty the vehicle should have been re-called due to poor manufacturing and that my friends falls under FIT FOR USE...sales of goods act... It is a manufacturing defect.

So now they offer to carry out the repairs under GOOD WILL and I will have to pay a contribution , fine so I agreed.. the vehicle goes back to MB Northampton a few days later I get a call saying MB head office refuse to authorize the repair due to the cost £8000... And at this stage they have just won a court case in America regarding this very issue... Fine so I traded the car and lost £2800 in doing so, but I have told everyone I know never to buy any of MBs products....

The level of service and support you will receive regarding a MANUFACTURING DEFECT is NIL... DO NOT BUY ONE OF THESE...
