I researched on-line and found a Class Action Law-suit was filed in 2014/15 regarding the Balance Shaft faulty parts installed by Mercedes-Benz. The Class Action Law Suit was awarded and Mercedes-Benz lost. Mercedes has a $375.00 Kit (Balance Shaft) for repairs however will cost over $5,000.00 and above due to having the entire engine pulled out to repair with a $375.00 Balance Shaft Kit.

The ML 350 was not included in the Class Action Law-suit due to others that submitted the same years and different models. The ML 350 does have the same Balance Shaft as the other Mercedes-Benz models.

Obviously Mercedes-Benz was aware of the issue and created a kit. Now, I am having to fight for repairs.

This is my 4th MB I have purchased since '01 and the 3rd ML 350. The check engine light stays on and dealer says balance shaft sprockets must be replaced and cost is $8236. This car was part of class action lawsuit and we didn't know about it at the time so car has over 125000 mi and is 9 yrs old and out of coverage period. The most MB corporate will give me is 10% off $8236 bill. I can't pass emissions with this problem so no new sticker can be issued. Any suggestions are welcome. Thank you

The check engine light has been on repeatedly for past 3 yrs but adding fuel injector cleaner and CRC turned it off for emissions test to pass but this year it would not work. Had diagnostic test 3x and each one said needs balance shaft replaced because gears wore out prematurely. The car drives fine but can ruin engine over time and won't pass emissions test. This car was built in '06 even though it is '07 model and '06 engines had lots of problems. Can you suggest fix? Thank you
