drivers seat heater burned a hole in the seat / my clothing

I was driving with my wife and smelled a strong Oder of smoke, I stopped the car open the hood and my wife said your coats on fire, I took off my jacket off put it out open the door and the car was full with smoke with a glowing red wire showing in the hole in the seat. A little red irritable spot is on my lower back.
