Worn timing sprocket and balance shaft was defective when I purchase the vehicle in 2011. Mercedes Benz knew about this defective part and did not inform me. The vehicle had 46000 miles on it at the time. If I was inform about this problem I wouldn't have bought it. I believe this is a violation of the consumer protection act.

The contact owns a 2007 Mercedes Benz S550. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled momentarily before restarting independently. The failure recurred while driving at various speeds above 5 mph, on an intermittent basis. No warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel after the failure. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer on numerous occasions and they were unable to diagnose the failure. The system was reset, but the failure continued. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 62,000.

The contact owns a 2007 Mercedes S550. While driving 40 mph he heard a rattling noise from the front-end of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, and the motor mounts were replaced because they fractured. The manufacturer was notified, and a representative stated that the there was no recall related to the failure. The VIN was not available. The failure and current mileages were 50,000. Updated 3/24/10 the consumer also stated the transmission was replaced. Updated 06/14/10.
