Was quoted $14,879.70 by MB dealer to fix this (includes replacing 8 injectors and tax). Camshaft sensor leaked oil that wicked into the wiring harness and to the M.E. control. This generated false codes (first saying engine running too rich) but further diagnosis revealed the real cause.

The MB dealer said their "prior experience" (which in itself says this is not an isolated problem) suggests replacing the 8 injectors "just to be sure". The "JustAnswer.com" MB techs found this problem was popping up in numerous areas of the country. An MB repair shop (not dealer) described this as a "design defect" and is now happening so often it's "an epidemic."

This is my 7th MB and 4th S-550. MB only solution was to give me $2,000 off the repair or $5,000 off a new car. Grrr.
