This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
The contact owns 2009 MINICooper clubman. The contact stated while closing the rear hatch door the driver sustained burns on her legs caused by the exhaust pipe. The contact mentioned that the exhaust pipe extends out from the vehicle which he believed was a design flaw. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but did not offer any assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 36,130. Because of the fact that the exhaust pipe extends out beyond the rear bumper and it is shing there is considerable risk that a child left unattended near the vehicle could experience the same type of burns.
