Passenger seat caught on fire from seat heater while car was off and no one in it. The seat heater had not been used for days. My car was parked after going to the store about 3pm. Found the next morning about 10;30 am.GM denied my claim. Safety issue, definitely a manufactured defect, there should be a recall. Whole inside of the car is trashed. The fire obviously started from the seat must have been a blaze the headliner and visor also burnt. Must have extinguished itself due to lack of oxygen. I contacted GM they never sent anyone to look at it. I emailed them photos and through that they are denying that it is a defect or a safety issue. Through research I have found I am not the only person this has happened to and yet there is still not a recall for this

The contact owns a 2002 Oldsmobile Bravada. While driving 30 mph, there was an burning odor under the passenger seat. The contact noticed that the seat was melting from the bottom and was dripping onto the carpet. The contact pulled the fuse box wires from under the passenger seat to prevent the seat from burning; however, the seat was still getting hot. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. In addition, the engine warning light illuminated. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 215,000.

Traveling apx 5-10 mph down a hwy slowing down and approaching an intersection with traffic light the engine stalled/quit completely and would not restart. I had to push the vehicle with help to the side of the road. After about 15 minutes the engine restarted. This vehicle was recalled for this issue several years ago (rc 04048) and was taken to the dealer by myself on 1/21/05 as soon as I was notified of the recall. Looking at the invoice that I still have in my files today it claims a wire jumper harness and strap was installed. Seems like this fix has failed.

The contact owns a 2002 Oldsmobile Bravada. The contact stated that while driving at 50 mph, the vehicle stalled and all the warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who was unable to diagnose or repaired. However, the failure recurred and the vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic. The technician diagnosed that the magnetic pick up sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. However, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 115,000.

The car is acting just like the other ignition switch recalls General Motors has issued. If there is any weight on the key chain the car has a tendency to stall. Sometimes it will start up right away while other times it may need to sit for up to 30 minutes before starting again.

The car shuts off suddenly and all of the gauges light up. The car must be restarted, sometimes multiple times. This presents a danger as the car may suddenly lose mobility on a highway. It seems that this may be related to multiple postings on the internet that claim this symptom is caused by a voltage spike to the computer generated by the air shocks. This car was built September 1,2001 and was supposedly included in a recall but the dealer claims that there is no recall on this car and if it was repaired under the recall, once the repair is done it is impossible to find it on the GM computers and the recall would then not be in effect for this vehicle. If it was repaired and the problem still exists, these vehicles should be removed from the road.

The contact owns a 2002 Oldsmobile Bravada. While driving approximately 25 mph on normal road conditions, the contact smelled a burning odor. In addition, the headlights operated intermittently when activated at night. There were no warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for a diagnostic. The technician stated that the failure was related to the wiring system. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic eight times for identical failures, but they still persist. The contact was concerned of the safety risk involved. The failure and current mileages were unknown.

Driving down the freeway at 75 mph my 2002 Oldsmobile Bravada just quit running like I shut it off. The traffic was very heavy at the time and was force to pull over on the left side breakdown lane. This is the 5th time my SUV has stalled for no apparent reason. From past experience letting the truck sit for 10-15 min it will then restart and run fine. This cycle has repeated at random intervals ever since I've own the truck. Dealer has never been able to find anything wrong even when it's been towed in three times for stalling, mostly on my wife.

Oldsmobile has published a remedy for the constant tail/stop lamp failures. They extended the warranty to 6yr/72000 miles. Not much for a 5 dollar bulb, but after 8 bulb replacements (4 by dealer 4 by me) I think there are other problems besides defective bulbs. If that is the problem someone better let sylvania (bulb manufacturer) know. This is a safety problem that is fixed for now, but may turn out to be a more serious electrical problem later. My wife loves her truck (no other problems), but is really frustrating.

Vehicle stalls (8) when under power. This has occurred at random, 3 occurring while on interstate at 60 - 70 mph. The failure at this speed causes quite a safety concern to my spouse and I. luckily we have been able to maneuver to the shoulder without incident so far. I've tried to resolve with GM but to no avail. They are aware of the problem which they apparently corrected on Dec. 6, 2001 (ODI PE03001 your database) but they refuse to address the problem in vehicles (Bravada & Envoy) that were produced prior to 12/6/01. There solution is to leave us out here as a safety problem and continually repair the problem as it crops up.

Engine shut down (loss of power to gas pedal, power steering & brakes). First instance occurred on 9/10/03 at 24,000 miles. I was driving about 45 mph when I noticed the gas pedal was not responding. I looked down and saw the ABS and brake lights came on so I coasted off the road and could not start the engine so I called roadside assistance. After about 20 minutes the engine started so I cancelled the tow and drove the car straight to the GM service dealer. They recalibrated the PCM. The second occurrence was on 2/15/04 at 30,000 while traveling at 60 mph in the left lane of a major interstate highway. I immediately recognized the loss of power to the gas pedal once again and saw the ABS and brake lights on. Luckily again I had enough momentum to get off the road with an 18 wheeler close behind. This incident could have caused a fatal accident. I called roadside assistance again and I was not in a safe location with very little median and I was told it could take up to 90 minutes for a tow truck. After about 20 minutes I was able to start the engine again so cancelled the tow truck. I was many miles from home and it was after 5pm so I took it to the same service dealer the next day. This time they replaced the PCM and assured me they fixed the problem. In this case I think the GM service dealer did what they could do but I am not confident that this will not happen again and next time it could be fatal. I complained to GM and they were responsive about following up on the repair but as far as issuing a recall they said it was not a GM decision so I am writing to you. I found about 33 cases of this same problem reported on your website for the 2002 Bravada but it is not clear any action is being taken for a life threatening defect. Based on some the complaints I see the PCM was replaced twice which tells me that there needs to be some action taken here.

I own an olds Bravada 2002. On May 2, 2002 the engine stopped while going 60 mph for no reason. This is the fourth time that this has happened. Twice I did not take into dealership. After.5 to 1 hour the car restarted. This is a very dangerous situation and it is a matter of time before someone is seriously injured. Olds and the dealership are not owning up to their responsibility in providing a safe automobile.

SUV failed to start. SUV has been towed to dealership at least three times. At first. Dealer wasn't able to find the problem. Secondly, dealer found a cause which wasn't the actual problem, and thirdly, didn't perform any corrective actions. Returned SUV to owner. GMC representative stated "they were only responsible for the SUV while under warranty.

While driving at night at approx 40 mph my 2002 olds Bravada completely shut down. The motor quit and I lost all power and electrical. I was able to coast to the side of the road and continued to attempt to restart the engine for approx 35 minutes. After this 35 min the engine did start and I was able to get home. I took the vehicle in for repair the next morning and was told the PCM had shorted out and it was replaced and reprogrammed. This was a very dangerous situation that could have resulted in an accident had I been traveling on a busy street.

On 12/11/02, I was driving my 2002 Oldsmobile Bravada in rush hour traffic and was traveling in the passing lane going at a speed of 70 mph when my speedometer dropped to 30 mph and my brake pedal was to the floor of the vehicle. Unable to accelerate. The dashboard displayed : service brake system and contact onstar displayed also. I, somehow, merged to the right lane of the expressway and at this time, my brakes were still to the floor and the speedometer was continuing to decline. Steering was difficult. I was able to get off the road, but the car stopped itself without me applying brakes. I put my car in park and the car at this time was stalled. I tried to restart the vehicle but was unable due to the car being "dead". I contacted the GM roadside assistance toll-free # to notify them of my problem and they supplied me with a # to refer to in case a tow vehicle did not arrive. Approximately, 30 minutes later a tow truck arrived and my vehicle was towed to yark Oldsmobile. I spoke with the service manager- anthony and he documented my concerns and told me that my car would be serviced and they would let me know what the issue was. I also told him the other problems with this vehicle included: Rear suspension defect 7/2001, loss of brakes in 8/2001, car failing to start and needing towed or jumped 3 times since 8/2001. On 12/12, the service dept contacted me and told me that there were several fault codes...one being a faulty speed sensor. They pulled several codes: C0236-circuit failure vss and C0237- a communication error. I told service that I also had several issues with the electrical system and jim stated they would look inot it but it is hard to find an electrical problem because it is such a big system. I was instructed that my car was able to be picked up on 12/13/02. I did so at that time, but I am not satisfied and do not feel safe in my vehicle. Yark is aware of above.
