Recall id 75918- engine and engine cooling GMC owner center, I own a 1998 Oldsmobile and has had several problems with the window regulators failing, signal lights, electrical, cooling system and coolant warning light since owning the vehicle in 2000. Engine and gaskets have blown, water temp has blown and after costly repairs, the low coolant light still goes off and on. Dealership always have to have light on to detect issues and still never detect anything. My coolant and levels are always checked and filled and the light still triggers on and off for awhile then return on again throughout car history. In 2008 my coolant light was acting up and I had vehicle checked out and fluids at appropriate level. Vehicle ended up overheating on interstate and I had to replace water pump and something else. Light went out for awhile and vehicle checked out. In 2009 light came on and vehicle checked and all fluid levels correct. Light still comes on and blinks and goes off for awhile. Smells like oil or something burning in car. I was on consumer recall site and saw this engine and engine cooling recall from 2009 regarding the spark plug wire retention. I don't recall receiving this notification. I believe the last recall letter I received was in 2008 regarding the steering. My vehicle was taken to shop for that and checked out at that time. Can I still have my spark plug wire retainers replaced for this recall?

I have a 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue and have had 3 of the windows fall down into the door and stop working. This happened at three different times when I was doing nothing more than just driving along. I feel that this could have been a safety hazard had I been driving on the highway. I have contacted General Motors Oldsmobile division and they apparently do not feel that this should be an item that is recalled. When I was in the local dealership, the service manager at that time casually mentioned that they have to repair alot of these on this model, as well as, the Alero. I might could understand if it was just 1 window. I would probably think that it was just a faulty part, but for it to happen to 3 windows is absolutely ridiculous! the GM lady told me that the only thing they could do was to visit with me about purchasing another GM vehicle. She told me that I had waited too long to do any thing about it. I had been waiting due to the fact that I was told that it costs so much and I could not afford to have it repaired. I told her that I absolutely would not ever purchase another GM vehicle is that is all they could do to help their customers when they needed it. To get these windows fixed is incredibly expensive. It has been about 2 years since it happened and I would desperately like to have them fixed, but affording it is out of the question. I would also like to prevent this from happening to other people. I very frequently see other vehicles like mine who have had the same thing happen to them. Thank you for taking the time to consider this matter.

I own a 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue gl. To date, I have had three of the four window regulators break. There is a small plastic "keeper" imbedded into the otherwise metal regulator track, that secures both ends of the cable that Transport the window up and down on its track. In all cases, this plastic keeper has broken, thus releasing one or both ends of the regulator cable, causing the window mechanism to fail, and allowing the window to fall down inside the door. I have temporarily secured the windows in the up position to keep the weather out. Only the driver's door regulator remains operable; passengers can not roll down their windows. Though it is not a life threatening situation under normal operation, it could cause a problem if someone in the vehicle needed to exit the vehicle by a means other than the door (say in the event of a side-impact collision when the door may not be able to be opened), and was not able to roll down the window. I am disturbed that the identical problem has occured on three of the four windows. I'm wondering when the fourth one will fail, and of course, feel this is a manufacturer defect that could lead to a life threatening situation if left unrepaired. I have done nothing to promote these part failures, and propose they be replaced. Please help.

My window motors/regulators on the driver side have both gone out. A co-worker told me his aunt has had the same problem. The windows have to be rigged to stay up and are inoperable.

Have also had to have the door panels replaced due to bubbling within the first year, besides the problems with the windows noted in the survey, I am now replacing the cables on the two left side windows due to kinking leaving the windows inoperable.

Vehicle was parked. Tried to open passenger's side power window and had trouble opening it. Finally, opened and it pulled the rubber moulding down. This has happened to the passenger's front window. Also back seat driver window moulding coming off, could cause water damage.
