The contact owns a 2002 Oldsmobile Intrigue. While driving at any speed, the alternator emitted a loud noise and no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The technician confirmed that the alternator was malfunctioning and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 119,000.

Headlights flicker on and off while driving. When the air conditioning is engaged, problem becomes worse. Consumer has taken vehicle to dealer 4 times for repairs. Dealer has diagnosed problem as a short term voltage drop within the electrical system and has even replaced the alternator, but was unable to correct issue.

The headlights and interior lights would dim without any cause, intermittently. The manufacture has submitted a report about the "dim" failure. The dealership was not able to replicate failure, so no repair was performed.
