While driving mechanism that holds spare tire under vehicle rusted and spare tire fell off. Dealership notified.

The cable that holds the spare tire broke, causing the tire to drop to the pavement. The van was parked in the driveway when this happened. Van was taken to the dealership, where the cable was repaired. Consumer waiting for a response from GM.
