Air conditioner quit blowing cold air. When taking car in for 30000 mile service, had dealer (bob caldwell Chrysler/Plymouth) check the air conditioner. Dealer said leaks at evaporator & compressor O-rings. Wanted $1400 to repair. Had an independent dealer charge system and it lasted for remainder of summer. Next year, system has leak all coolant again. Called independent repair shop to see if I could get recharged. Shop suggests I check with dealer to see if there is a recall yet, since many other Voyager/Dodge have recall due to faulty evaporator. Dealer claims no recall. Take it to independent to see if can be charged. Independent determines that now the compressor needs replaced. This is uncalled for. If I had paid dealer $1400 last year to replace evaporator, I'd still need to spend an additional $1000 this year to replace the compressor. There should be a recall on these. This has soured me on Chrysler products. And to think I was considering purchasing a PT CRUISER. I think I need to reconsider.

They extended the warranty on the same evaporator in the LH and more expensive models but not on the same system in my vehicle. Why?.

The evaporator failed. I seached the internet for recall notices and or technical bulitens. I found information from individuals with complaints and similar circumstances. I was lead to this site. Chrysler should tell their customers that a component is only good for 60M miles if such is the case. This unexpected expense was for $750 dollars.

A/C is out again and the compressor was replaced 6 months ago by St. Pete Jeep and Plymouth in St. Petersburg fla. At that time I also mentioned again that the seat belts did not retract or tighten as they should and I was told that the Corp. Doesn't take care of that. About a year or so ago I went to St. Pete Jeep and Plymouth because something was running from the seal around my rear window, they scrubbed it off the van and told me to deal with it when a day later it was there again, it is always there!
