The front driver seat is leaning back and we can not adjust it back to an upright position. About 4 years ago we had the same problem and found the metal chassis for the seat was defective. I am concerned that if we get into an accident that the seat is basically useless and would not absorb any impact. Is Chrysler doing anything about the defective seats or replacing them.

My husband was injured when we were rear-ended by another vehicle. The height of the seat back is too low to provide protection from whiplash. It bothers me that the seat design remains unchanged in the 2002 models. There should be adjustable head restraints for all passenger seats.

Accident occurred on freeway in spokane, wa. Traffic was stopped in my lane. I was hit in right rear corner after I had come to complete stop. This caused us to be thrown counterclockwise and forward. My wife's seatback gave way, causing her to fall backwards and striking her head on the sliding door window. This shattered the window, fortunately only causing my wife neck and back strain, and not cutting her at all. Upon contacting the manufacturer, we were told the seat mechanism did not break, but bent which is what they said is as designed to prevent neck and back injuries. This is exactly the type of injury my wife sustained. A copy of the letter from the manufacturer is availble.

Driver's and passenger's side door hinges broke, causing door to hang down. Also, driver seat recliner mechanism broke, causing seatback to fall to the floor. Recliner mechanism broke twice. Chrysler factory representative considers the seats in the car to be trim, and as such, it is not a safety issue.
