Consumer called complaining about structure problems. The hinges on the door were not strong enough to hold the door, and there was a crack. Dealer and manufacture were contacted, and stated that they were not responsible for it. Also, latch on the door was not working properly to the point that when they made a sharp curve the door came open.

The complaint refers to a 1995 Plymouth Voyager. A passenger vehicle. Car doors pull away from frame causing door to jam, the door then fails to close properly & passenger can be ejected from the car. That is a serious defect. Not one like the bulb may stay lit & cause early burnout. The door hinge system is dangerously flawed. No one was injured only because the seat belt kept the occupant in the car. This defect rendered the car unsafe to operate & unsafe to sale. The estimate for repair was $1500-$2000 with no guarantee of the weld holding & the problem resurfacing. The car was sold for scrap.

Sliding side door falls off of 1995 Plymouth Voyager mini van at elementary school in mass. While students are getting on board, fortunatly no one is hurt thanks to the quick reflexes of driver who catches door before it hits the ground!this actually happened to me on 11-28-01 while I was picking up my son at elementary school. The defective part is part#04673202.(one of the outer races on the roller bearing was defective causing the hinge of the door to fly off the roller bearing track). Cost of part is $72. Labor to install part is 1-1/2 hours @$65/hour. I am asking Chrysler to help me with the repair of this safety defect. I am recently unemployed due to the after effects of the September 11 tragedy in New York and can not afford to pay for the repair at this time. Can you help" I know that the last thing daemler Chrysler wants is more negative publicity due to defective doors on their mini vans. I will probably buy the part myself and attempt to install it. Does any on know how"

The sliding door track underwent fatigue failure, causing the door to fall open upon initiating opening the door. Had we been moving and the door been bumped. I have grave concern the door could have become unhinged and begun cartwheeling down the road. Worse than that if the door did remain attached to the other two hinges, the gap between the door and the frame in this case was sufficient for someone to fall through. My son tells me a friend of his who also has a 1995 Plymouth mini van had his side door completely fall of at the high school parking lot a couple months ago. Houston, we've got a problem! there is no excuse for what I saw today. Please give me a call. I took pictures of the failure if you want to see it. I'll be taking it to pomoco Chrysler Plymouth for them to fix tomorrow (2/14/00).

Driver's and passenger's side door hinges broke, causing door to hang down. Also, driver seat recliner mechanism broke, causing seatback to fall to the floor. Recliner mechanism broke twice. Chrysler factory representative considers the seats in the car to be trim, and as such, it is not a safety issue.
