The engineers who decided to put plastic gears with a metal bolt to spin them are the reason GM is owned by the government. It's very common with these cars to have the gears stripped more then once. You can actually, for free, spin the gear 180 degrees, because the motor uses exactly half of the gear. After that you have to replace the gear or the motor.
