To: General Motors I just signed the following petition addressed to: General Motors. ---------------- recall faulty passlock systems thousands of people are being led in circles by any vehicle with a passlock II system and it is an unsafe problem with these cars that needs to be fixed. It prevents vehicles from restarting in potentially dangerous areas while the vehicle resets and can permanently disable the car if not addressed. The problem lies in a design oversight and cutting a material cost by putting in a cheap component that any basic chemist could tell you would go bad within a year or two. Change your ignition switch contact from nickel to gold plated connectors and oxidation will not cause faulty readings to trick your vehicles into thinking that they are being stolen and shutting off the fuel pumps. Remuneration for individuals impacted by this financial burden for the purchase of your vehicles is also a request as this problem is a gold mine for car mechanics, both GM certified and freelance, to troubleshoot numerous systems before identifying the problem proper. ---------------- [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

Sometimes my blinker will stop working. You can hear it going but you will not see it appear on the dash and the it will start working again after a while. Also there is times where I've just used the blinker and then it will continue to sound like it's still blinking but it's not on just the sound of the blinker is still going. I also have a problem with the key turning at all until I turn the wheel a bit.

The vehicle does not start. I was told by the Pontiac dealer to put the ignition in the accessory position to reset the computer for about ten minutes and it works. This has happened a dozen times since I've owned the car in 2004. I fear this is related to the GM recalls on the unintended key rotation which my car is covered and the cylinder lock replacements on certain vehicles which I am not covered. I wonder why GM is replacing some cylinder locks and not all the defected ones. I want mine replaced, I know this is a safety hazard and fear driving this vehicle! can you help me. Thank you!

Letter from senator brown on behalf of constituent re vehicle recall. On January 8, 2013, the vehicle caught on fire in the engine compartment. The consumer received a post card in the mail, in June 2014 regarding a recall concerning a possible engine fire. The consumer no longer owns the vehicle.

Electrical issues big time: (so far, these are the issues I have found) blinkers & hazards randomly work, smell burning wires, ignition switch problems when trying to get car to start, gear shift sticks when attempting to take it out of park to reverse, smell fuel & low coolant button comes on but cannot determine leaks. "I'm being told by GM's customer service department that I have to go to a certified GM repair shop, pay out of pocket for the diagnose of issues which isn't going to be cheap, and then submit the information back to GM who may or may not fix it"!?!"! if they don't, I'm stuck with the bill!!! which is going to cost me thousands to fix, because I can't sell it with all the issues." "as a single mother of two, I am highly appalled by this!! with all these recalls from GM, makes me wondering what else will go wrong with this vehicle, I "pinched pennies" and we went without necessaries to purchase said vehicle for my 17 yr old daughter. I pray for my two daughter's safety and the passengers that may ride with her everyday, I can only hope GM will add her "VIN" to the recall list and fix all problems, so I don't end up at anyone's funeral, as a result of GM's several years of failure to provide consumers with the big mistakes they made."

I have had this vehicle for 14 years & have multiple issues with it in that the ignition switch has been replaced 2 to 3 times in the first 3 years of owning the car and never did work property; I had to have the intake gasket done & the head gasket done; I too had an issue w/ the ABS light being on and a wire or something was off. Luckily I have a relative who is a mechanic and did not have to endure the upcharge of the dealership however, these were costly expenses none the less. I contacted GM about the ignition switch & was told my VIN was not part of the recall. I also contacted my local news station to try to investigate later model ignition switch issues with no result. I believe this needs further review. My car currently has 185K miles on it but only had about 150 3 yrs ago when the intake & head went. And as I stated the ignition switch never worked property (always a clicking sound like the turn signal was on coming from the ignition - I was also able to remove the key from the ignition & drive the vehicle w/ the ignition in the on position).

It is my belief that this vehicle may also have had a ignition switch problem like later models. I believe that looking into these faulty ignition switches in earlier models should be investigated. For the last 3.5 years I have just explained my daughters accident as just an automobile accident, but after seeing some of the crash scene photos from a newer vehicle accidents they seem too familiar to what my daughters accident looked like. The airbags were never deployed, the ABS brakes did not work, the skid marks showed no sign of braking only sliding. If you investigate fatality accidents with earlier model GM cars the death toll will most likely be greater than the 13 that GM is currently admitting to. Please investigate older model cars so that people who have lost loved ones can have real closure and not just speculation.

I bought a car from budget auto sales and I had numerous issues including brakes, air bag, electrical, gas leaking, brake lines, steering problems, muffler and exhaust problems along with bad tires and getting motor mounts replaced, changing all fuses and both driver and passenger and driver side mirrors, tire rods and axle shaft also. The car was in the shop constantly while I made consistent on time payments. The car was supposed to have had an airbag replaced when I paid for a rental car. My car was in the shop for 4 days. Later on I got into a bumper to bumper accident because my brake lines were incapable after sending them into the shop.after going to the Pontiac dealership and paying 200 dollars to hook my airbag up it was coded that my car had been in an accident on one of the days the car was at the dealership getting serviced. The dealership told me that they would clear my dash board so none of my lights would appear. When I took the vehicle into numerous auto shops multiple companies informed me that they either couldnt fix the car or that it wasn't worth fixing. The vehicle is barely running today and I am still putting more money into it. I asked the dealership numerous times to give me my old car back or give me my money back. Even after I payed the vehicle off early the dealership told me that they have the right to refuse service and that they didnt want the car. I believe that I was taken advantage of and that the car is unsafe and they put me in a death trap so they could line their pockets and take advantage of a single disabled mother just trying to have decent reliable transportation. I would have filed a report with the attorney general but the car is over 8 years old and I wasn't aware that I could file a claim until just recently.

This car had this problem when I bought it but I had no other choice, I had to buy something. Besides, they told me that they "thought" that they may have fixed it....wrong! when they had the problem with the car, apparently everything was checked & replaced but with no luck. The 02 sensor was replaced a couple times, tune ups, fuel filters, etc....they even hooked it up to a diagnostic machine and it didn't detect a thing. I am no expert but............1st of all; the car only stalls when I take my foot off the pedal. I could be doing 65 down the highway, but as soon as I take my foot off the gas....dead! the car totally cuts off. No funny sounds, hesitation, smells, etc. It just dies. When I 1st start the car (the initial start up), I make it about a couple blocks before I have to drive "two footed" so the car wont stall. There were a few more problems with the car when I first bought it that have since stopped or just got worse. All electrical issues. For example: The car has day time running lights. At times I would have to actually turn the lights to the "off" position B/C the high beams would start going nuts and flash like a police car. But that has stopped, so idk wth that was. My blinkers stop working whenever they feel like it, and then will work again just like that. I have a "service engine soon" light and a "check engine" light; both light up on occasion. So does my traction control, etc...... but nothing is wrong"!?!?! I beg to differ. However...........if there is already a really screwed up electrical problem, would the diagnostic machine actually be able to find a problem?" this car is a death trap.

Passlock/security light malfunction. When starting the car, the security light will flash and not allow the car to completely start. Engine will crank but not turn over. Leave the key in the on position for 10 minutes and the system will reset and the car will start. A couple days later the same problems will happen. Sometimes during driving, red security light will come on, but will not affect anything to impair driving. Was told ignition needs to be replaced, but problem still happens after it has been fixed.

My 2000 Pontiac Grand Am GT with only 65000 miles has recently developed the security light on the ip, and has not started once (only owner). I take care of my vehicles and have not had an issue until now. The light turns on frequently, and is upsetting to not know if it will start and you'll be stranded for a while. I just bought a new G-8 last summer. I also own a Tahoe. Please do the right thing and have a tsb software fix for the numerous people that continue to support GM products. It's the right thing to do.

The security feature will not allow me to properly start my car. The security light in the car the upper left corner of the dash board display flashes. I then have to wait 10 min or remove power I.e. disconnect one terminal of the battery reconnect it then hope the car will start.
