I was starting to leave for work and the front coil spring on the passenger side of my 2000 Pontiac Grand Am GT had snapped and flung itself into the tire. Which could have resulted into a severe crash and could have killed some one. Now I must replace the strut tower and the coil spring.

I have 2 complaints. At around 48,000 miles I heard a grinding noise coming from the front end. Had to brakes replaced and still grinds. It has been about 10,000 miles now and still grinds. Brought back in to shop, they have no clue as to what is going on. Also, front end started pulsating 8,000 miles ago. Read some comments on the internet about this and seems there might be a problem with the braking system. Brought car in and cannot figure out what is causing it.2nd complaint. About 6,000 miles ago car would start in the morning and thoughout the day would not start on the first crank. Had to crank and give gas to get it started. Cannot figure out what is wrong. Had a diagnostic test done, no answers. Car has only 58,000 mile son it right now.

I own a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am GT. At about 15,000 miles my blinkers starting either just comming on by theirself or would not work at all. I took it in to the dealer and they replaced the hazard switch. Then, about 6 thousand miles later, my front end started shaking and making noise. I took it to the dealer and they said my brakes were down to the rotor and I would need new brakes and rotors. I asked if it would be covered under warranty, and they said the warranty only covered the brakes until 20,000 miles and it would cost me $500 to fix the problem. I took the car to my mechanic and had performace brakes and rotors put on my car for $375 (I had read a few reports of others having problems and having to go back to the dealer every 5-6 thousand miles and did not want to go through that, and concider myself luchy that they lasted as long as they did.). I have put another 15,000 miles on my performace brakes and rotors with no problems. My mechanic also saw that I had a plug in my right front tire. I have never had to take my car in for a flat since I have owned the vehicle, so my guess is that the dealer put the plug in the tire. I have been reading similar complaints from people that own 2001, 2002, and even 2003 Grand Am. Apparently they are using cheap parts on a "performace car" and are ignoring the problem and something need to be done, before someones brakes go out completely. There is also a problem with the passengers front seat not locking in place. If you do not push the seat back all the way fairly hard and check the seat lever to make sure that it came back up, the seat will slide all the way fwd during even light breaking. The seat has done this since I have owned the car. If they used better components on their car and would stop cutting corners they would not be having theses problems.

I have had nothing but problems with my 2000 Pontiac. The brakes have been replaced 3 times rotors have been replaced twice. My hub caps had to be replaced because they were all cracked. The buttons on my air conditioner/stereo control are stripped. Screws fall out by the dash, the truck is uneven, when it is closed 1 side is higher than the other, there's a gap, my windshield wiper hose is busted it leaks. Seat belt covers broke off. My side mirrors are disconnecting themselves. The dealer will not help me. Everytime I've gone up there I left upset. They do not stand behind their product. I've even sent letters with no response. I have a junk car. It is not worth the price. I also took it to the dealer because there is a rattling under my hood like a mount is gone. I took it and they said they did not see anything. Pontiac does not take the customers they have seriously. It is really sad. What am I to do as a consumer" who is willing to help" hopefully this will get their attention.

The tires are very weak and are not very "durable." From the experience I've had, I don't feel safe with the tires and wheels on my car. Every time I'm driving somewhere and encounter everyday road conditions, I'm scared to find a flat, popped tire; or blowout. I've had the exterior black lining fixed 2 times and I'm not happy it is happening again! the rear windshield weather strip is separating. The lower body mold is comiing off the body around the entire vehicle. A suspension cover part doesn't fit, has been to dave cross service dept. Where car spent 4 days and said to be repaired, I got my car back and it was worse than when it went there. Whoever has replaced the front bumper is a complete moron! it isn't lined up with the proper things! the driver side is lower than the passenger side. The car sounds like it is going to fall apart on a perfect road! a lot of money has been put into this vehicle and it's very upsetting when it is taken to get fixed, pay for that, get it back, it's still not right, take it back again, pay, recieve rude customer service, then it's a half-a** job! there's so many things to comment about, but those are the top subjects with my car. Hopefully, I will be taken seriously for once. Thank you for your time, it is appreciated.
