My daughter was driving the vehicle when it quit properly accelerating. She brake and pulled to the side of the road and turned the car off. When she called to tell me she had broken down, she noticed flames coming from the good. She exited the vehicle and called 911. The entire engine was engulfed in flames. The car is a total loss. Fire department informed of a recall we were not aware of. GM denies that the car is part of a recall.

I am reporting a Pontiac Grand Prix GT. It has had a acceieration problem since I started driving it. I had it sent to a Pontiac dealership to be looked at for several weeks and they say the problem cannot be fixed because of the softwere being bad in that model.I contacted general M otors about the problem, they say they cannot do anything to fix it. I am now finding reports on the same issue occuring in the same model cars all over. I was told this is true and is happening in cars from the year 98-99. They know of the problem and will not do anything to correct it. I don't see how they can make a car and know the problem that is their fault, that they even know about and will not correct. I am getting more information on this problem concerning this car and the software and will be contacting my lawyer and the company I have my loan thru. I work to hard to have a vehicle, it is very expensive to own a car and I will make sure that it runs the way it is ment to. I will not take the answer I was given from them as a solution. What they said is not a way to fix a problem with a vehicle. Someone should not have to die or become badly hurt before it is taken care of. Please contact me with any information that may help in getting this taken care of. My E- mail is shareun69@yahoo.com. I thank you for your support.

Engine is surging between 50-60 plus miles per hour range, Pontiac dealer recommends transmission change even though car only has 60,000 miles on it. Typically nothing should be done on car till over 100,000 miles. Bought as used car and dealer states I should have bought extended warranty even though I didn't have money to do so, but I bought car with 40,000 miles on it. Shouldn't have to replace when used for only 20,000 miles. Sounds like a rip-off to me. What can we do with it and can we find out previous owners and if had problems with it before I bought it? thanks alot.

Intermittently vehicle stalls out and dies. Also, while driver applies brakes and depresses accelerator slightly, vehicle surges forward unexpectedly. The dealer has inspected the vehicle several times, and has not been able to duplicate or correct the problem.

The car problem is that when making a complete stop, the car will take off and then when the car is moving the motor will shut off. I was almost hit in 3 different occasions, the car will just go off without any warning, and after shutting off, I have to restart the car fast. GMC is aware of the problem I even have a file number with them, and greenwood auto center cannot find the problem with the car. Before greenwood auto center I took it to another dealer and they could not find the problem either. I consider the car to be unsafe to drive because I never know when the motor is going to go off, and I'm afraid I'm going to be hit by another vehicle. I have all the papers of the repairs and the persons I have talk to in GMC, and as of today they still don't know what is wrong with the car. But GMC and greenwood auto center are aware that the car is unsafe to drive.( dot number: )
