This ABS/Trac on light situation has cost me a fortune in the past. I three shops to finally figure out the wiring harness needed to be replaced due to deterioration and that finally fixed the problem. The signs of a real problem were mostly brake shudder. One mechanic didn't believe there was a problem and charged me $20.00. One recommended I replace a tire that did not need to be replaced. The local dealership didn't know what to do. Eventually, one of the wheel bearings needed to be overhauled at a cost of $800.00 and they thought that was the problem. On the way home from that repair, the brake shudder happened again. The mechanic told me he could not believe this was happening and promised he would work on the car until he figured it out. Finally decided the electric harness had to be replaced due to wear on that. The lights were out for years. Three years ago the lights reappeared. I will not even have diagnostics run on those lights. It could be anything -- and I am not going to spend $800.00 a pop to find out what's wrong. Could be nothing. Would not surprise me at all if the lights just come on for no reason this time.
