I bought this auto with 94000 miles on it and starting around 95500 miles the engine will stall out while driving occasionally. At first it was thought to be an inaccurate fuel gauge but today's stall occured with 3/4 tank of gas. The only good thing about this is the car will restart after it sits for a minute or so. Very unreliable vehicle. Anyone know how this can be fixed?

I have had the fuel pump checked has 45 psi and ok, replace fuel filter, replaced pressure regulator or fuel, no engine light or code comes up, acts like fuel problem, not electrical, I think most electrical engine light comes on with code or codes. sometimes it is better than other times, sometime worse, have to baby it, have not lost gas mileage, seems to do it more when under a load and requiring more fuel. has new mass airflow sensor, air filter, hose from filter housing to manifold big round tube has no leaks in it. this problem is driving me crazy and nutso. It has to be a simple thing being overlooked. Car just surges like it needs fuel. will coil breaking down do this, if so should I not have an engine light. Co sensors good converter new, problem is pissing me off good.

Car stall upon start up almost every time - and it often wont hold an idle without your foot on the pedal to do so.Sometimes it clicks in and holds it's idle and sometimes not.Once driven many miles it will hold its idle okay sometimes it doesn't and it continues to stall once you stop for any reason.

Now the car is worse and is lurching and acting funny with the transmission or perhaps with the fuel pump cutting in and out.Really annoying now.Not only this - but the key often gets stuck and we have to use a 10 penny nail to clear it - up the rear hole in the steering column in order to remove it.

The window regulators have also been a major disaster since we bought it.First the right rear electric window regulator went out and then the drivers, and then the left rear window regulator failed. We have one window that works the front passenger side only.Really annoying at the bank or any drive through. All vehicles should have a manual drivers crank on the window for safety's sake alone. This should be law or regulation. .We actually took both the rear windows and blocked them up from inside the door with 2x4 pieces temporary to get them up and stay up - for now. This car has been a stalling demon lemon but it does get good mileage and it is powerful comfortable and sleek.

This is so annoying! I love this car and have never had any problems before with it but this problem will NOT go away! We replaced the fuel pump twice already and made sure there was no condensatio in it or anything and it still stalls out randomly and looses all steering and you have to shift to neutral to get it to start back up. The service engine light has only came on one time through out the whole ordeal and it didn't really come on it just blinked on and off for about 30 seconds and the car just stopped and we had to pull off the road and let it reset it self and it had a burning smell almost to it but it was not overheating or anything like that no smoke just a horrible smell. We let it set for about 5 minutes and it started up again just fine no problems. We have used fuel treatment in it the drying stuff, and filled it up with higher octane gas as well and it still does it. I am dying to know what is wrong with it and no one seems to know I do not have the money to sell it and get a new vehicle so I am kind of stuck driving a un predictable vehicle and I hate it!!!! Please help me!!!!

Grand Prix GT 3.8L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 107,000 miles

The vehicle is stalling out at random times you cannot turn the wheel hardly or anything and you have to shift it to neutral to get it to restart and it runs just fine at times, but yesterday it went even worse and the car did not want to run at all after driving it for 10-15 minutes and the service engine light came flashing on for a brief minute or two and it had a sort of burning smell coming from the hood but no smoke or anything. I do not know what is wrong with the car, any help would be greatly appreciated please. Thanks.
