I have 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix GT 3.8l v6 and I just bought the car. The cell came on and the temp gauge read like just first two lines maybe three and the heater blew warm air (not hot) so I figured it was the thermostat. Had the computer read at the auto part store and read as bad temp stuck thermostat. The thermostat was stuck open and the car never reached the temperature it should of because the antifreeze flowed free and wasn't regulated so the pcm sent signals to put car in like a safe hazard mode and the transmission clutch control was set. It shook the car like bucked and the rpms would flicker a little when on hwy, lightly touch gas or up hills lightly touch gas. The car would buck too when coasting from higher speeds like 45-75. Got the tcc disengaged by resetting the pcm, but now it still shifts a little hard, not like jerk, jerk. What can that be?

I bought the car used and haven't had any problems with it other than both of my regulators and motors going out in the doors for the windows and a week or two ago I was driving and all the sudden the gears shift down and are having a hard time shifting like its delayed and makes a bogging noise . I have had all the fluids and air filter checked and its neither of those. I haven't had it looked at yet other than the fluids.can anyone help me out if you have had the same problems let me know what the issue is.

And yet another complaint on my POS lemon! At the same time it starts leaking coolant it also started shifting hard, I took it to the shop and was told it was some kind of sensor that needed to be replaced, since I didn't have the cash to pay the deductible I was unable to get it fixed at the moment, now 3 weeks later it won't shift out of first gear, you can't drive it over 30mph or the RPM's rev up in the red zone, took it back in again and was told that they tore into the whole engine trying to find what was wrong with it then they decided that it needed to be taken to a transmission shop caz they couldn't fix it. I was like well duh I knew the transmission was jacked in it. So next I'm taking it over to the tranny shop, so as always can't wait to hear the story I'm gonna be told. THIS IS THE WORST CAR! DONT EVER BUY A 2002 GRAND PRIX.....U WILL BE SORRRRRRY!!! LEMON LEMON

We recently purchased a used car from a well know Chevrolet dealer. From day one I noticed the transmission acting strange I am a ASE certified tech in engines and transmissions. As we kept driving the car as it warmed up it would shift hard and if you were going down the highway at highway speeds and put car in neutral it would drop down a gear then go into neutral.I took car to dealership the had me take it to there (mom and pops) transmission shop not impressed they changed the shift solenoid and it seemed to fix it (wrong) only lasted 2 weeks.I took it back to the tranny shop and he could not get it to duplicate the problem so called the dealership and made appointment to have them look at it.They had the car about a week and called and said they got it to act up and we are putting a whole transmission in it (great).Another week went by they called and said its ready to go went to pick up the car and was leaving to go to Nascar race in talladega on friday. We picked the car up on Thursday drove around that day and WOW it was doing the same thing as before SHIFTING HARD AND BANGING called the dealership and he told me they installed a used transmission with less miles and said they drove it for an hour and it would not act up.So now im steaming mad you really put a junkyard transmission in my car REALLY? I contacted the owner of the dealership and he was like yes that is normal procedure and told me to go ahead and drive the car to talladega and if it breaks down call us.So we nervously took off to Alabama the car acted up all the way there and all the way back took the car back to dealership on Monday and couple days go by they call and say we are putting another transmission in it under warranty another junkyard transmission.A week goes by and i call them to check the progress and they tell me we put another in it and it has problems to so we have decided to use another vendor (ANOTHER JUNKYARD) So i call my salesman and he agrees to put me in a newer car a 2004 chevy impala ls 3.8 v6.I loved the car drove good shifted good was very happy .But got it home and went out for icecream with the wife that night and with just normal driving it started slamming gears just like the Grand prix did.We could not imagine that this car has the same problems I went home did some research to find that im not the only one having these problems in the usa.Contacted my salesman and he was like oh well we can put another transmission in the grand prix or you can just stay in the impala I want my money back or my car fixed he said no and i told him i would be willing to split the cost of having trans fixed he said im not putting any more money in those cars im like its not my fault that whoever bought these POS at the auction did not check them out and what damn dealerships put junkyard parts in a car ?My whole reason for buying a car at the dealership was for quality and reliable transportation boy what a mistake. And I also need to mention that I have had a rental car for a total so far of 46 days since the end of feb.to april 30th and making payments while this POS sits in there shop. And im taking the car i have now the impala back to the shop on Monday to start this whole thing over again wish me luck
