I recently purchased a 2007 Pontiac Solstice GXP from a dealer in Columbia, SC Approximately two months after taking delivery I had a minor fender bender. The accident involved driving up too hard on a parking space and scraping the undercarriage of the vehicle.

Assuming this to be a simple repair I took the car to a local body shop. Here I am informed the intercooler to the car is damaged and there ARE NO INTERCOOLERS to be had anywhere in the United States. I have since contacted the dealer, customer service at Pontiac, and the GM executive line. All parties report the same thing. All newly manufactured parts are being put on new cars. There are no intercoolers anywhere in the country that can be purchased for a repair. Furthermore, there is no expected date of release. It may be a month. It may be six months. Folks I bought this car in lieu of a restored 1968 TR6. The reason? I thought the Triumph would be hard to find parts for. The bottom line is I now own a car with less than 3000 miles on it which has been wrecked and CANNOT BE REPAIRED. Had I known no replacement parts were available for certain components in the car, I would never have bought the car. One assumes GM to be reputable and always have replacement parts for their vehicle line. Especially NEW cars.

The truth is these people are prostitutes. They can make more money putting the few parts they have in new cars, so they have no interest in servicing customers who were stupid enough to buy their cars in the first place. Needless to say, I will never own another GM car.

I can only imagine how long it might take to get the car fixed if it were severely damaged! If you own a Solstice.... drive it very carefully. If you wreck you are on your own!
