My torrent keeps over heating! I have....... replaced water pump, thermostat 2xs, belt retention-or, the belt, had the radiator drained & flushed out. Will do good for 1 to 2 days then right back at 0. Then money I have spent I could have bought a different car!

I AM IN SHOCK THAT SO MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM WITH THEIR 2006 PONTIAC TORRENT. MY CAR WILL RUN FINE AS LONG AS IT STAYS OVER 40 MILES PER HOUR. SHOULD I STOP AT A LIGHT OR REDUCE SPEED TO EVEN 20 MPH IT AUTOMATICALLY GOES TO OVERHEATING AND PUTTERS TO A STOP. I AM A SINGLE MOTHER WITH CAR PAYMENT, I AM LOST AND DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO.

I've spoken to a few people about this vehicle and they all feel like this was the worst purchase they've ever made..I thought it was a thermostat issue, so I had that changed 3 times..Finally someone else told me they had an issue with the head gaskets...I'm just ready to get rid of this car's one issue after another.

My Pontiac Torrent is A PONTIAC TORMENT. PROBLEM WAS FIXED and now AGAIN starting to overheat here and there. Already had dash taken out for heater not working under the fix thru dealer if determined to be a part under the non recall. ... Now dial would's only on 1 2 and 3... not on high. Small never went away. Burning smell from heat constantly. Reservoir for coolant gets sucked up in engine until opening reservoir. Dash has smoked. Heat has stuck up in dash before. .. not coming out the vent. Just ridiculous. Wiring was the smoke problem. ... we fixed them sauntering every one of them together.

If so many problems, why do us consumers have to deal with it? I bought it new!... why no recall? Problems all over the net about the torment of the Torrent. I would never buy another because they can't take care of us.

This happened to a friend of mines Torrent. The vehicle was emitting white smoke from the tailpipe and she said it smelled sweet. She took it to a mechanic and he said the head gasket was blown among other things. Anyway, she called the GM dealer asking if there were any recalls for the '06 Torrent. They said no but after much discussion, she found that they have a "GM dealer special coverage plan" that will cover the heating/cooling and ventilation issues she's having. The number is: 800-462-8782. Don't ask for recalls, ask for the special coverage plan. I hope this helps.

this is a problem with pontiac cars first. was told it was the thermostat had that replaced then still had the same problem only after a week or so after spending over four hundred dollars on that . apparently these cars have had a history of this problem and HAVING TO HAVE THE HEAD GASKET REPLACED. in fact a judge rejected a motion to have a recall for these GM cars because of a problem with the head gaskets. do to this antifreeze in these cars that cause this very problem and that was in 2007 and now in 2013 people are still paying up to two thousand dollars or more due to this same problem and nothings being done about it.
