Rear Window Exploded

CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2008 Aura’s issues with brakes, such as worn out rotors, isn’t as severe as the prior model year, but let’s just not start awarding them any brake awards just yet. Does that even exist? “The Brakies”?

One thing the 2008 does share with the 2007 is a recall of a busted gear shifter cable which can make it look like your car is in park, when the transmission is still engaged. You can only imagine what kind of fun that causes.

I was the only car driving on the two lane road near my home when I hear an explosive sound - and my rear window is completely shattered. This didn't just crack, it exploded. Now it's going to be $400 to fix this POS. GM won't do anything even though it is obviously a manufacturer defect. Anyone else have this issue?

Contacted Saturn of Albuquerque explaining that the rear windshield just exploded for no apparent reason. I was assuming that the bumper to bumper warranty would cover this, but Saturn of Albuquerque as well as General Motors Corporate of Detroit determined that they would not cover the cost. I spoke to a district manager of General Motors and requested either an email or written letter stating why I was denied the bumper to bumper warranty coverage. The corporate manager literally stated that he had no access to an email account ( yeh right!!!) and that he would not send any letter. In short I wrote a letter of demand that Saturn give me an explanation why my bumper to bumper warranty was denied on the rear windshield, and personally handed the letter to the service manager of Saturn of Albuquerque. I will wait a couple of weeks for a response, and most likely will have to take them to small claims court. I do not think that I was unreasonable in asking for a written letter or email from them, but apparently they are reluctant for whatever reason?
