My 2007 Saturn Ion has recently received all THREE recalled parts: ignition switch, ignition cylinder, and power steering motor. GM was kind enough to rent me a car for a month while waiting for the parts to come in. Picked up the car a few weeks ago. Around a week and a half ago, I noticed the car would slowly just start driving on its own, without me touching the gas pedal at all. I have owned this car since it was new, and never experienced this. It seems to slowly be getting worse. It seems a little more noticeable when I put the car in reverse to back out of my carport. The car practically shoots out!

I took the car to my mechanic today and discussed the issue with him. He drove my car and agreed that it was idling too high. He tried looking up some info from GM about it online, and found that there are no codes or recommended idle speeds listed for '07 Saturn Ions, which he found strange. Without that information, the problem is not obvious. And according to the NHTSA, doesn't exist.

I have found numerous complaints from people online who have the same issues with their Saturns. Some a lot more severely than mine. I filed a complaint with the NHTSA, but so have other people, with no results. Because of the absence of codes for idle speeds, it is being chalked up to driver error, which is outrageous. I urge ALL Saturn owners who are having issues with unintended acceleration to file as many complaints as possible, so someone will notice, and take action.

My car feels like a death trap these days :(
