Just purchased this last month used with no warranty, for my college age daughter who's just over an hour away. So I'm out of pocket the cost of a new pump and filter. I'll do the work myself to save money. I wish I had checked this site before buying the car to have an idea of what I may expect to see go bad.

This is my work car and going home from work started smelling gas really bad. The second sign was after letting the car sit for a bit it took about 3 to 4 seconds to crank the car over. It was like the line was emptying out after parking it awhile. You would have to turn the key forward so the pump would run and fill the line back up. So, after getting it home and parking on my driveway facing uphill i got under it and saw gas running down the hose track molded into the tank. I followed it up right to the pump. After I dropped the tank "UGH" I noticed the lines were cracked at the joint on top of the pump. I went online purchased a new pump which came with a new o-ring and steel retaining ring. Worked great and then I discovered another leak problem from corroded steel fuel supply line. My work is never done lol.

I bought the Saturn Ion at a used car lot. Upon detecting the massive fuel leak, I was assured by the Saturn rep. Raymond that all fuel related problems fell under the recall. The two lines just to the left of he pump and module that fell under the warranty addendum were roached!! The dealership put me in a rental car, repaired the pump, ignition, power steering, and lock recalls. After having the car for a week and not contacting me for four days, I get a call telling me that the fuel lines are not covered as stated and it will be $700.00 to repair.

I have a holiday trip planned in four days to spend with a very sick relative. I am a veteran with Multiple Sclerosis and am on SSDI. No wonder Saturn went under!!! Too many recalls!! Merry Christmas to me..... Thanks for the ruined holiday and not being able to afford the repairs.... Been paying on this car for over a year and now I'm still on the hook for a payment for a vehicle I can't afford to repair..... Go figure.
