Discovered two wires that tore through the fabric on the back of the drivers seat. These exposed metal wires are sharp and can easily cut somebody if they should rub against them. Something has failed inside the seat. Multiple people have the same issue on a dedicated online forum for this vehicle. Not isolated.

The contact owns a 2008 Scion Xb. The contact stated that the rear seats were extremely covered with rust. The contact was concerned that the seats were fatigued and would not hold up in the event of an accident. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who stated that the rust was caused by the elements. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact had not spoken with the manufacturer when the complaint was filed. The current mileage was 7,657. The failure mileage was approximately 6,000.
