The windshield in the car made creaking noises in cold weather. Soon after, 3 large cracks appeared in the windshield. They are each approximately 2-3 feet long. They start at the far edges of three different sides of the windshield are slowly converging in the center. There is no sign of an impact, and I watched the cracks form while sitting in a parking space. I then researched the issue, and now I am afraid to replace the windshield, because from what I hear, I will just have to replace it over and over again.

Poor quality back-up light could cause vehicle to be unseen while backing up. Scion Xb has only one back-up light mounted on the lower right side of the bumper. This light could cause a serious hazard to children and pets that are walking or playing at night.Toyota has installed a very safe light assembly on the same vehicle sold in Japan as a (Toyota rumion).the lights on the Toyota are a direct fit with the Scion Xb and cost Toyota very little to fix.please note that single light on the bumper can illuminate the ground and the Toyota version lights up the rear completely.these Toyota lights can be found on the internet and some members of scionlife. Com has installed them already. The cost of these lights shipped to the us are way beyond what most are willing to pay. Please look into this safety hazard!

Car was sitting still, had just started it. Heard a "pop" and my windshield was cracked. Scion Xb 2008. I have been reading about numerous complaints with the L shaped crack going from the dash by the drivers wiper across to passenger side. No rock hit the windshield there.

Parking brakes frozen during drive. It happen only in winter time. First time it happen when odo meter at 9,000 mile then 18,000 and now at 40,000+ miles. I checked with local repair shop and endup in replacing rotor + brakepads. But now I feel now it getting worse and repair shop insist that I should contact dealer about this problem, because it is not normal to replace rotor and brakepads twice with 40,000 miles of driving. Windows also froze during the cold weather.

My Toyota Scion developed a crack in the windshield overnight, nothing appeared to have struck or hit the windshield. Believe that this might be a structural issue based on investigation and notice that I am not alone as a 2008 Scion Xb owner with this problem. I think this is a manufacturer defect and I am disappointed, I just bought this car used 2 months ago and it has then 20K on it. This is a safety issue for visibility purposes as well as others.

I was advised to contact the NHTSA regarding my windshield crack on my 2008 Scion Xb. My windshield sustained a impact from a pebble so small that I did not even notice the impact while driving. The resultant impact pock was less than the size of a dime and located within an inch of the center bottom of the windshield. That small pock has turned into a diagonal crack that three days later is 10 inches long and growing. My research has turned up that this a common problem that Toyota has so far not corrected and that a class action lawsuit is developing in order to force a recall. I will be contacting my purchasing Toyota dealership, Toyota of san bernardino, ca in an attempt to get this repaired under the 36 month full warranty.

I have a 2008 Scion Xb. It developed a crack in the windshield. This crack started in the seal, and formed a perfectly straight crack, which then curved, and cracked straight across the windshield. I was told by the Scion dealer that it was due to a rock hitting my windshield, but there is not impact crack visible. There is not spider webbing of any kind, just a line straight across the windshield.

My 2008 Scion Xb developed a large crack and has hundreds of little tiny holes on the windshield where small pebbles have struck it. Toyota wants $1000 to replace, and wouldn't do it under warranty, although I believe it's a defect.

My complaint is about my Scion Xb 2008. I have had two problems with the front windshield cracking. My first Scion Xb 2008 had a crack in the windshield that was a stress crack. Toyota of the desert hand my car for a whole month before I got it back and the windshield still wasn't repaired. My car had scratches and was damaged by the company. They even broke the replacement windshield and that's why I had to wait a whole month for it to get back to me. When I complained to the manager he ignored me and just asked me why I had traded in another car that I bought from the there Honda dealer. Next my other Scion Xb has the same issue and now the same company Toyota of the desert is saying that this crack is not caused by stress and that I might have to pay $1000 dollars to repair the windshield which is not covered by the warranty.

Approximately 3 foot horizontal crack appeared on the bottom right side of windshield, beginning at the extreme base of the windshield (around the black defrost vent) as it sat parked in an enclosed garage. The crack extends left toward driver's side. Aeronautics expert who examined the crack confirmed that the crack was not due to a rock or other foreign object, but that there is most likely a design flaw, or that there is a bolt or other piece of equipment fastened too tightly.

I have a large crack in the front windshield of my 2008 Scion Xb. I bought the car in may so it is a little over 3 months old. I do not believe that it was caused by anything hitting the windshield. My Scion dealer says that it is not covered by my warranty. They want to charge me $1010 to replace the windshield and the molding.

I purchased a brand new 2008 Scion Xb on August 3, 2008 and only after 2.5 weeks noticed the "L" shaped crack on my windshield. After my initial inspection I could not see any visible abrasions. I took my vehicle to the dealer 2 days after I first noticed and was told that it was due to a rock. The service representative that conducted the test had to literally try to find a "point of contact". he even had to request for someone else to find one. Finally after numerous passes with his pen and finger he finds a small chip about the size of a pen tip, an inch down from the seam of where the glass meets the car. The car has less than 600 miles. Is parked in a garage (at work and home). The crack is now an estimated 7+ inches. I said to the service rep, "is the quality of the windshield that poor, that a very small rock hitting a brand new windshield would cause this much damage". his response was yes.

My windshield in my 2008 Scion Xb cracked at an angle starting around the mirror and curving to the right. It occurred hours after I had driven it, from no apparent reason. The glass appears to be substandard or similar to the Honda element, a design defect. I had it replaced already.

My windshield has a "L" shaped crack on the passenger side top. I don't recall hitting anything, so I am not sure what caused it. I called the dealer and they quoted me $500 just for the windshield plus labor to install. I cannot believe this. Something needs to be done.
