The low oil light popped up after 8000km. I took it to Denlo Subaru in Parramatta and they were saying that I should always check the oil???!?! Not after 6 months. They were terrible and eventually organized to get an oil consumption test. They changed the Engine block, piston rings and after 6 months again, it had the same issue. = Oil Light Popped up. I got another oil consumption test, and this time it was within the borderline and within tolerance. How can that be?? I had enough of the car and enough of Subaru so I bought oil (0w/30) and kept topping it up till the end of my lease. I was excited to get rid of that car.

Forester X 2.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 48,392 miles

At the grocery store parking lot waiting for my wife, a stranger walks up to the car (2013 Forester) and tells me the story of oil consumption in his 2013 Forester and how Subaru replaced his engine and gave him a rental for the duration of the repair. Well my eyes lit up I'm sure and I checked the oil when I got home.....didn't register on the dip stick and I was 1000kms. before oil change was due.

Next day I called Subaru and was able to get the car in to begin the oil consumption test..... they measured the remaining oil and calculated I was down 2quarts at this point. The dip stick also had the same reading...didn't register. They changed the oil and filter (N/C) and told me to keep an eye on it and bring it back if there was any issues.

Forester

  • Automatic transmission

So this 2013 Forrester suddenly started consuming oil last year. Took vehicle to dealer who charged me to change the oil and start the consumption test. 1500 miles later, dealer says oil level is perfect! Just checked oil level after 1900 miles, dropped 1/2 quart already( Dealer says it can "burn" 1 quart per oil change). Hey, where is all this burnt oil going? Right into the exhaust system and catalytic converters. Subaru corporate will not respond to messages..period. I'm waiting for the warranty to expire to get the dreaded word from the dealer that I'm responsible for the full repair. Sorry Subaru, not impressed with your company!
