I am writing regarding the paintwork on my Vauxhall Corsa

The Corsa was registered in September 2018. I purchased the car from February 2020. I’m a driving instructor and had white stickers placed on the 2 front doors to protect the paintwork against my magnets. I contacted my livery company a couple of weeks later and asked them to change the white stickers to clear. On peeling the white sticker off the front passenger door, a huge area of paint came off with the sticker! As we had just gone into lockdown there wasn’t a lot I could do.

As soon as my local Vauxhall dealer opened which is, I took it to them on 16th June 2020. I saw the body shop manager who came out with a paint measurer and found that that this was the original paintwork from manufacturer and was at an inappropriate thickness. The paint was also coming off on the rear drivers doorsill too. He said he would refer it to Vauxhalls.

I spoke to him in September, and was informed that he was still waiting for a reply.

Today, I have spoken to him to be told that Vauxhall only give a 1yr guarantee on paintwork! My paintwork is defective from the manufacturer and wasn’t done correctly in the first place. Why should I have to pay for a respray when this is clearly Vauxhalls shoddy workmanship?
