It is unreasonable that the safety recall on the airbags has not yet been resolved. The recall was issued in April 2023 and there is still no resolution coming. For passengers, this is a critical safety hazard.
I am writing in to complain about the recall associated with the passenger airbag for VW Atlas for which I received no information from the manufacturer or from my local VW dealer. The amount of time that this serious safety-related recall has been open is completely unsatisfactory. What is being done to resolve the situation?

Passenger Occupant Detection System to detect a malfunction and switch off the passenger airbag, even though the seat may be occupied. In a crash with frontal airbag deployment, there would be an increased risk of injury to the occupant seated in the front passenger seat if the passenger frontal airbag is switched off or not working. Our airbag warning light, comes on and off. This happens sporadically whether the passenger seat is occupied or not. an error message displayed in the instrument cluster and by the status of the Passenger Airbag OFF indicator light. There is not a fix for this per the local dealership and when contacting Volkswagon directly. How is advising people not to use the front seat in their car the only option? This is not always possible for us.
I am experiencing the airbag issue described in the recall campaign. The passenger seat airbag warning light goes off constantly. Current "solution" is to not use the passenger seat until a repair can be made... however it has been nearly 6 months without any updates.
