On 6/29/2026, the ID.4 started braking, then vehicle started slowing down, and then while still on the brake vehicle surged forward rapidly. Then brake re-engaged.
On 7/1/2026, I was stopped at a stoplight in heavy traffic when the ID.4 surged forward and struck the pickup in front of me causing a chain reaction four car accident. No one said that they were injured to the police, but I did receive a citation.
On 7/2/2026, While taking the ID.4 to my Volkswagen dealership, it surged again midway through stopping at a light. Luckily this time no one was in front of me.
The service people at the Volkswagen dealer have to date not found the issue, and they have told me that it is a Volkswagen issue. I have been referred to the Volkswagen USA people. I will not drive it until they resolve the issue because of the dire safety issue the problem presents.
On August 27th 2025 when pulling into a parking spot in B Mode and applying the brake my car suddenly lunged forward with rapid acceleration and ran over a bollard, across a sidewalk and into a brick wall. The entire time I had my foot on the brake and could not stop my car. A brick wall ultimately stopped it. Shockingly, my airbag didn't deploy nor did any of the braking safety overrides engage. I contacted VW corporate and they took my verbal report. VW then sent me an email requesting permission to access my car's event data recorder (EDR). It is a new lease and I am demanding to be made financially whole by VW. I've indicated that I want my $2000 deposit back and all lease payments paid thus far. Importantly, I filed a report with NHTSA. If this has also happened to you, please file a report here https://www.nhtsa.gov/report-a-safety-problem. It's easy to complete.
Per my insurance, it appears to be a total loss. The car is brand new (2025 VW ID.4 PRO S) and has less than 300 miles on it. There is pending litigation that you can join via a class action lawsuit:

The lawsuit is shocking to read through as it describes precisely what happened to me and others. I've contacted the law firm below who is a party to the class action. From what I understand, the EDR has not yielded compelling information, according to other VW owners.
