This is a classic story of girl buys first new car, girl drives it for 24 hours, loans it to her mom on a hot day, mom adjusts the mirror, mirror comes off in mom's hand. After much run-around from the dealer, 12 days of my first 14 with the car were spent sans rearview mirror. Finally some fancy adhesive kit arrived from Germany, and the thing got glued back on.
