The outside rear of the car smelled like gas. After looking under the car we noticed a puddle of gas collecting after stopping the vehicle. The dealer told us the driver side fuel pump has a crack leaking fuel. This is a serious problem and has to be addressed before somene dies. It is a hazard to my family and the public as a whole. Apparently VW has done a recall for this for later model year Touareg, but not the 2006. They refuse to fix it due to age"! in all the years I've been driving, I've never had a fuel pump that cracks and spews gas all over the road. In order to even find the problem, they had to take out all of the rear seats, cut through the carpet of the vehicle, and open up two vents through the floor of the SUV. This is a serious hazard. So if I hadn't smelled the gas and someone threw a cigarette, my family would be in hazard for their life"! even though there are many other examples of this on the internet VW has refused to acknowledge this is an issue.
