This car was last inspected by local VW service centre on August 18, 2014, with special requests to check the water leakage under chassis which was reported to be normal. This time when the car was drove to the VW Service Centre for checking because of a low coolant alarm, the first report from the VW representative was a minor leak found at the coolant pump. When the pump replacement was agreed and proceeded, the VW Service Centre reported a sudden breakdown of the coolant system when run with the newly replaced coolant pump.

It seems that the pump replacement work was not properly done, mishandling of the pump trial by the repair shop mechanics had resulted the coolant system damage.

As the last inspection in August reported normal coolant operation, while a few months later this 3 year old car experienced such a serious pump failure and then a coolant system damage at trial run. Both the pump/system piping quality and the workmanship are in serious questions. Furthermore, the VW Service coordinator insisted that such damage was not covered in the advertised 5 year warranty, although VW had conducted four quality checks in the last three years. For my numerous years of experience, the new car quality and service capability was the worst and most disappointing.
