This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
1) I had to change a flat tire and used the vehicle supplied scissor jack. I noticed that it got increasingly difficult to turn the jack to raise the car. Eventually it got so stiff that it required both arms to turn the lever. 2) the jack suddenly failed and the car came crashing down onto the pavement. No damage to the vehicle as the tire was still on the axle. No personal injury as both arms were on the jack's lever arm. Upon closer inspection, I noticed the worm screw was somehow stripped. 3) reported to Volvo customer service and was told to bring the jack back to the dealership for a warranty replacement.
