This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
Our vehicle was rear-ended by a 2012 VW tiguan (which was itself rear-ended by a 1997 Dodge Ram). The rear of our vehicle offered no protection to occupants in the third-row seat that Volvo claims is designed to accommodate children. The VW made almost no contact with the frame of our car, and instead slid right into the rear passenger compartment almost 2 feet, crumpling the hatch that was the only barrier between the legs of a passenger (had there been one) and the front of the VW. The 3rd row seat of station wagons poses significant risk of permanent crippling injury to children in even a minor rear-end accident.
