Mercedes found the problem at a production plant in March 2018, so an investigation was opened with the headlight supplier. Engineers determined a problem occurred during manufacturing that caused damage to the phosphor layers of the LED lights.

No vehicles built after April 6 are affected because the issue was corrected by the Austrian supplier, ZKW Lichtsysteme.

The pink turn signal recall will begin November 9, 2018, when Mercedes dealers will replace the LED modules.

A separate recall has been issued for 375 model year 2018 Mercedes Benz S63 AMG 4Matic and S65 AMG vehicles to fix problems with the active lane keeping assist features.

Mercedes reports the system may not work during an unintended lane departure if traveling more than 65 mph. The automaker says the problem is incorrect calibration of the software.

Mercedes dealers will update the multipurpose camera software when the recall begins October 5, 2018.

The recall should begin October 19, 2018.
