They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. CarComplaints.com Notes: The second generation Durango was introduced in 2004 and instantly came under fire for, well, catching on fire.

From 2004-2006 electrical overloading in the driver's side instrument panel caused numerous reports of interior fires. The interior infernos became so commonplace that Chrysler eventually issued a recall.

The problems didn't stop there, however. Owners of the recalled vehicles complained about being treated unfairly and given take-it-or-leave-it low ball settlement offers. "They offered me $2000 under NADA retail as a settlement," said one owner, "and have been rude and hostile to deal with." Nothing says awesome service like treating your customers rudely after their cars have caught on fire.

Have we mentioned all the reports of complete engine failure due to oil sludge?

Observed that my 2004 Durango stalled every time it rains. All dashboard lights remained on with the engine running. When it was left to dry out, all lights went off and the vehicle ran normally. This occurred a few times. On first occasion the alarm went off intermittently until the battery died. On the send occasion the AC control was impacted and acted erratically. On third event the vehicle was towed to the dealership. They diagnosed the problem as water entering under the sunroof seal and running down to the left side kick panel junction block. They estimated this would cost $1400 to repair. Didn't do the job and asked to technician clean it up and get it started. I was charged $300+ for this job, and I since got back the vehicle the airbag light has remained on.

Durango would not shut off so had it towed to dealer lot. Chief mechanic came out as far as the garage door, asked if it had a sunroof (yes), he got some hand tools, disassembled the kick panel on the drivers side, removed a bunch of wiring and relays until it stopped running. Dealer found that the drain tubing from the sunroof was 'kinked' and not routed properly. Took two days for it to be dried out. Very lucky that the wiring, relays and computer did not have to be replaced - nothing covered under warranty !!

this vehicle has been in service for 67 days from 2/17/09 til 12/16/09 for engine light on and the code p2099 oxygen sensor, it has been replaced 3 times. the last time the engine light came on they said water was getting in the electrical box.

I just bought this truck about a year ago, used from a dodge dealer, it ran fine up until I had a dodge dealer do a full service on my truck which cost me almost $2000.00, but they said it was a 30,000 mile full 6 or 8 point service that needed to be done and also change my brakes because of occasional squealing. Now my breaks squeal more than before and when it rains my check engine light goes on. The longer it rains, the worse the problem gets, the indicator lights all go on, the dashboard lights flash on and off, my blinkers don't work and at one point we couldn't even get the car in gear, we had to unhook the battery for a couple minutes to reset everything. And now after it is turned off for a while, it starts to make some sort of clicking noise from under the hood. I don't even want to bring it back to the dealer because they will just guess again and I will end up handing them more of my money for nothing when I know more people have had this problem and they know what is causing it. Dodge needs to step up and make this a recall, I don't even have 50,000 miles on this truck, what a piece of crap!

Brought my truck back to the dealer same things happening truck stayed running after it was shut off w/ key out of ignition. All warning lights came on. Dashboard lights blinking. Turned truck off to restart to clear the lights- truck started but would not go into gear. Finally we got it into gear. The only light that stayed on was my engine light. Dealer found that water is getting into my junction block and my wires are getting wet. They are not sure where the water is coming from this will cost me hundreds of dollars to find out the problem. Unfortunately I got screwed on my warranty and only have the powertrain warranty, nothing is covered. This could cost me $5,000.00 or more to fix depending on what they might find when they go in. If they have to replace my wiring harness that alone is about $2,400.00. My truck is sitting at the dealership I have no idea what to do. I am wondering if this problem is why everybodys engine light keeps coming on? The dealer told me was that when they hook the computer up to the truck - it looks like there is nothing wrong when the wires are wet and it's not feeding any of the right info to the computer. I have put a call into Chrysler to see if they would pay for it, they need to know where the problem is coming from first. I doubt they will pay anyway. I don't know what to do but if any one has any suggestions I would love to here. These problems should not be happening to a truck that is 4 years old. Not to mention I have already replaced the right side manifold back in June 2007. This vehicle is the biggest Lemon I am past the 3,000 mile warranty for the Lemon Law and my vehicle has only come in twice for the same problem. I am going to file a complaint with the attorney Generals office for Lemon Law and Consumer Complaint. Hopefully it will help.

The wiring in my truck was going batty - All warning lights lit up. Turn truck off and the truck would stay running w/o the key in it until it stalled cause it wasn't getting anymore gas. Dealer put in Front control Module- however this was not the problem. I am in the process of getting my money back, this leads to the next problem....
