We had been smelling coolant for a couple of days, but could not find the leak... we thought it was the radiator. Then, while out driving one day, the telltale steam arose from the engine and the temp skyrocketed. We looked under the hood and the head gasket was hanging out from under the headers and coolant was spewing everywhere. We had just taken a long trip to Illinois (We lived in Tennessee at the time) just before this happened. About two months after replacing this, the entire engine went out.
