DONT EVER BUY A INTREPID. I have to complain in EVERY category because i've had problems with every damn thing. I've had 3 diagnostics ( waste of money) and the 3rd on I told them, try driving it then tell me what the problem is!! The transmission would slip in and out of gears, it would shift like a damn stick shift does if you dont ease out on the clutch. It clunks and surges, i've gotten into 2 fender benders because of it. Its a EFFIN piece of shit, waste of money car!!!!

In 2001, after only two weeks of purchase, the Transmission needed to be rebuild because the computer chip inside need to be replaced. Worked fine in the winter but when it got hot I had to take it back for the same problem (computer chip failed again.) Two years later still having the same damn problem. Talked to many Intrepid owners -same problems. This car should be recalled under the lemon law. It's a pretty piece of trash.

The car had just started slipping when the engine went out, so, I have not had it fixed. I found a used transmission for $400 along with an engine.

The piece of shit slips out of gear whenever it feels like it, mostly when turning right and when the engine is cold. It can take up to a minute for it to get back into gear, depending on the weather. I've waited through green lights for it to go. fu*king piece of shit.....
