Owner of a 2003 Dodge intrepid, the car downshifts when coming to a stop and will not upshift unless I turn the ignition off and start car again. There is no waititng period, I can just start the car immediately, then the transmission works normal and car drives and shifts fine until I slow down or stop again. The check engine light is on and I have had the computer put on it and the code it gives is "transmision" . READY TO PUT DYNOMITE UNDER THE CAR.

My engine light came on and now everytime i am coming to a stop the engine down shifts and the rpms go up and i have to turn off the car and restart. Different codes come up each time i take it in. Anybody with a suggestion other than a stick of dynamite i have already thought of that one!!

I also had a 1996 intrepid with the same problem, now with this one had it changed when it had 42300 klms on it. I have now got 61220 klm on it when it hapened again when I was 50 klm from home, I had to stop some traffic to find some one with a wrench to disconnect the battery so I can drive it home without reving the hell out of the motor the dealer that repaired it before was tower chrysler in calgary in jan 30/ 2006. and now its gone again. the first time it happend the wilf was comeing home from work and scared the heck out of her and just about got hit in the tail end when she slambed the brakes on not knowing what happened. so to me that is dangerous.is there anything done about it. thanking you George Hofer cc jeanette hofer
