My girlfriend's car drove like crap. Lots of play in the steering. She said it was just fine and dismissed my complaining. Finally I convinced her to let me look at it. Both outer tie rods were completely shot. The one could even be pulled apart, definitely not safe. They were on hand at O'Reilly's and they were easy to replace. The replacements can at least be greased. They really shouldn't wear out with this few of miles.
