CarComplaints.com Notes: Say what you will about the styling of the Ford Edge, but the bottom line is owners seem to love this vehicle. That is, of course, except in the case of it's dangerous, worrisome and unexplained issues with random engine stalling.

Our data suggests an early defect trend, as owners of the 2007-2008 models have started posting their accounts of what happens when you're driving down the road and the engine just stops. Some at high speed, some at low speed but always a random shutdown of the engine, electrical and power steering.

Time will tell if this becomes a widespread issue, but there's no drying the seriousness of the problem. With that in mind, we're flagging the Edge with our "Beware of the Clunker" rating until the situation improves.

A week or so after purchasing vehicle, was driving & door ajar light came on but no doors were open!! Keeps doing it drains my battery nonstop! Brought it back by dealership & they treated me like s*** saying it didnt do it to them while they kept my car & "checked out problem" but went bck again & literally crawled out the window just to show them & then that's when ohhhh yea well thats going to be $650 to fix.. Fuuuuuck uuuuu & ive just dealt with worrying everyday if my gosh damn car is going to start or who im going to bug to come & give ne a jump.. Shouldnt have too. This is obviously a recall issue because i see im not the only one. Its happening with alot of other years too.Rant over..(for now)

I just noticed someone with a much newer car than my 2007 (I think it was a 2014 model) had the same door sensor problem that we had. They ended up paying $400 to have it repaired. After many unexplained alarms we unplugged the fuse so now our lights don't work when we open the door and the door ajar light stays lit all the time. Can't tell you how many times we opened and slammed the door shut trying to stop the alarm going off in the car. So apparently, they STILL have not fixed the problem that occurred in a model seven years prior to the 2014(?) problem I just read about on here. This will definitely be my last Ford. Too many problems for my personal experiences to list here but I see many of the same problems on this site that we've had.
