Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

Please take a moment & say thank you by donating $5 or whatever you can to the Center for Auto Safety.

1. door ajar light comes on periodically at any time and doors wont lock 2. sync systems turns on and off while parked. Outer lights turn on and off while parked as well and not at the same time as the sync system. The key is not in the car when this happens.

Driver door ajar light stays on when clearing door is shut. Slamming door or gently shutting it like a formal door does not fix it. Some lights stay on and will drain battery. Has left me stranded twice. Driver door ajar light will eventually go away when I sit in passenger seat and open and close door until light goes away. Then I exit the car and lock it with remote to ensure light is off. Ford plz do something about this thank you. Miles on car 90K.

The contact owns a 2011 Ford Edge. Once the contact entered the vehicle on the driver's side, the door ajar warning light illuminated and would not dim. The contact stated that the door sensor was replaced twice by the dealer, but the failure recurred several times since. The failure occurred when the vehicle was in motion and while parked. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 45,000.

After using the passenger door, the door ajar light comes on even though the door is clearly closed. The door needs to be opened and closed for the light to turn off. When you turn the car off and the door ajar light is on, the dome light will stay on and drain the battery and the door does not lock.

On my 2011 Ford Edge, the driver's door ajar light stays on, even when the door is shut. This is causing my interior lights to stay while operating the vehicle or when I exit the vehicle, unnecessarily draining the battery. Additionally, this is a major safety issue as I am unable to lock the doors from my driver control panel (for example, if one of my children happens to open their lock, I cannot lock it again electronically). If I happen to not notice that they have opened their door, they could accidentally open it and fall out. Or, say I run up on a bad situation, I am unable to lock the doors automatically in a quick instance. Ford, please do the right thing and recall this item for a fix. Thanks

The door ajar sensor keeps alerting - although door is not ajar - when car sits for any period of time this drains the battery. Have had to replace battery twice. Too expensive to have dealer repair.

This is the ubiquitous ┐door ajar┐ alarm issue that Ford refuses to acknowledge. The door ajar light along with its associated warning chime and interior lights will turn on randomly. Sometimes I have to open and shut the door for several minutes to get the lights off so the battery will not run down and leave me stranded. On several occasions I have had to open and shut the door while driving in order to get this alarm to go off. There are youtube videos with thousands of hits on this issue as well as hundreds of online complaints; yet Ford will not voluntarily recall and fix this issue.

The "door ajar" alert and the interior cabin lights stay on even though the door is firmly closed. This happens when the car is stationary and moving. This is a danger at night as the interior lights make it difficult to see. The doors also do not lock due to this issue. I would also imagine the battery will wear down as a result of the lights staying on.

The door ajar warning lights come on every single day for all doors. Constantly causing surmountable stress to driver. If unable to get the sensor to turn off, the doors do not lock while driving, which is terribly unsafe for driver and passengers. Also, because the dome light is connected to the door, the lights stay on draining battery. I've also had the door ajar sensor warning come on while driving down the road, when it was previously not on. There are also warnings "check fuel inlet", but there is nothing to check. The only problem is that the sensor has a problem! which then in turn makes the engine light illuminate because it thinks there is a leak in the fuel inlet, or perhaps thinks that the seal isn't closed because Ford decided the cap-less fuel inlet was a good idea. It's not!

Vehicle has begun to show driver door ajar at all times, even when slammed several times. This causes lights in cabin to remain on and drain battery when parked and even causes horn to begin to beep at all times during the day and night. Also causes doors to lock or unlock while driving or while parked and left unattended. Not secure for children to ride in car since locks are not reliable or to leave the car since you may return and vehicle has unlocked. This is very much a safety concern since it is impossible to back up or drive with the cabin lights on.

The door ajar light remains on, no matter how hard or soft I close the door, I must open and close it 3-7 times before the door ajar light turns off. If it doesn't, it remains on the entire time driving. I am unable to unlock the door with the remote sometimes, making it unsafe when I leave work late. Then unable to lock the door as soon as I get in since the car thinks my door is ajar. Very unsafe! this has been going on for months, mileage is at 73000.

  • 50,000 miles
The door ajar light remains on with the driver's side door, and now also the rear left door, when the doors are closed causing the interior light to stay on and making the door locks inoperable. The light staying on causes several issues...battery drain and the inability to lock the doors. This happens approximately 90% of the times now. It started around 47,000 miles and continues now at 52,000 miles (with the addition of the rear door doing it also at this point). There are numerous complaints about this on many websites without a permanent fix...even after replacement of parts. Not being able to lock the doors while driving in some areas due to the fact anyone could jump into the car not to mention the doors could be opened by children in the rear of the vehicle.
